Announcements at the Tourism Industry Conference

Date: 5 April 2023
Venues: Hybrid

At the Tourism Industry Conference (TIC) on 5 April 2023, STB announced that the launch of Attractions Technology Roadmap is slated for Q2 2023, to help attractions digitalise and manage the manpower challenges.

The association and its members have been working with STB and the appointed consultant, KPMG on the development of Attractions Technology Roadmap since January 2023. It was conceptualized to guide the implementation of technology solutions in a step-by-step approach across 3 job functions selected by the industry (i.e. customer service, marketing and sales, sustainability). The end-product in the form of smart attraction guide book, seeks to be relevant for all attractions, regardless of digitalisation stage, size of attraction and types of attractions.

Singapore is the first country to be certified as a sustainable destination based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)’s destination criteria as part of its 2030 Green Plan.

The second announcement specific for attractions was the ASA-STB partnership in the development of the Global Attractions Sustainability Criteria (GASC), targeted for launch in end-2024. Attractions stakeholders will be intrinsically involved through feedback, consultation, contributing industry expertise for the draft criteria; and encourage adoption of the developed criteria by industry when it is ready. ASA EXCO lead for this initiative is David Lim/ Bounce Singapore and Yap Chee Wee/ Singapore Discovery Centre.
